More than 90 solutions were submitted to the Minergy Scouting Program SNMPEto solve the challenges proposed by the 20 most important mining and energy companies of the country. This way, our sector is placed in the eyes of the world.

Peru remains an attractive destination worldwide for investments in services for the mining and energy industry. This was shown by the participation of more than 30 technology suppliers and startups from 12 countries, which have presented their solution projects to the challenges raised by the Minergy ScoutingThis Program is the first open innovation program executed with the support of important government entities, such as: PROMPERU, the Ministry of Production and the Ministry of Energy and Mines. No doubt, this program has had an important international scope.

A total of 94 solution proposals were presented by 32 companies. These solution proposals were presented, after 20 mining and energy companies set the 39 challenges for the Scouting Program launched on July 15.

Minergy Scouting Program is a new program organized by the National Society of Mining, Petroleum and Energy (through its Minergy Connect sector) with the help of public and private entities, and embassies around the world. The purpose of it was to connect companies from the mining and energy sector operating in Peru with potential technological solvers from all over the world. This way, they could solve the main operational challenges of Peru's industry.

On December 13rd, we will announce which entities will pass on to the Matchmaking phase. In this phase, mining and energy companies as well as technology suppliers will have the opportunity to exchange information and create solutions together for the Peruvian industry's problems.

In detail

From the 94 proposals submitted; 10 were from the Environment category; 33 were from the Operations and Maintenance category; 26 from the Productivity category; 3 from the Community Relations category; and 22 from the Occupational Health and Safety category.

The program has attracted great interest from the Peruvian mining and energy innovation industry, since 33% from the solutions presented are from national origin, while the other 67% come from countries such as Germany, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Spain, Israel, the United Kingdom and the United States.

From the 39 challenges set for this Program, 31 have received technological solutions from the applicant companies.

The workshop and registration phase, which recently finished, consisted of six virtual events aimed at potential technological solvers in regions with highly competitive industries: Peru, Chile, Canada, Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Israel, Germany, Spain, among others.

Assessment process

The scoring system for each technological solution submitted will be carried out by three independent entities: the concerning mining and energy company, the ESAN University and PROMPERU. The results will be announced on December 13. We will communicate which solutions will make it to the matchmaking phase.

During this phase, the supplier company and the mining-energy company will work together to create, improve and adapt together the technological proposal presented, in order to obtain a final product. This final product will be the right solution for the challenge at hand. It is important to highlight that—if they are selected—foreign suppliers and startups will have the opportunity to generate partnerships with local companies, through the aid of PROMPERU. In this way, the Minergy Scouting Program is an initiative to create investments in Peru, as well as it works as a platform for the exchange of experiences, knowledge transfer and promotion. All of this is carried out for the development of Peru's innovation system.
